Strive College is a new Community Interest Company which has been set up to provide education and support to young people (aged 19-25) with learning difficulties. At present, once a young person with learning difficulties reaches 18 they have to leave their school, and will often end up unemployed and isolated at home. Strive has been set up to provide ongoing education for people to the age of 25, supporting them into further education, training and employment. The college will open in September 2024, initially with 10-15 students in Workington. We plan to recruit some new staff, and transfer others from existing schools. We will have a staff team of 4 when we start, but this will grow to 9 people in Year Two. We need help to make sure that we manage this recruitment properly, ensuring that we have robust job descriptions, manage any TUPE issues, advertising and employ new staff and put some induction processes in place. Someone with experience in HR to guide our new management team would be a great help. We are looking to complete all of this work by August 2024, to make sure we have a new staff team in place for our planned opening in September.
