Job title: Digging out greenhouse for planting. Team size and trade (estimate): 3-man team, Plant operator Equipment needs (estimate): 1.5t tonne excavator, 6t dumper Time required (estimate): 3 days. Timescale: Ideally would have completed before Christmas. Job description: To meet our organic certification requirements, we need to grow all our produce in the ground. The existing greenhouses have a layer of sand with some compacted fill underneath that needs to be removed, so we can backfill with compost for growing. Ideally, we would like to dig down to the soil underneath; however, if this is not possible, the minimum required depth is 300mm. Due to the good quality of the sand and fill, we would not need to remove it from the site; instead, we will reuse it across the site for paths, etc. There is good access for machinery with a high roof and sliding double doors. The size of the greenhouse is approximately 7.5m x 10m, providing a dig-out area of 75m2 at a depth of 300mm. We have budget for plant rental or martials that might be required.
