Laptops donated to enable home working during lockdown

CITIZENS ADVICE – ALLERDALE is an independent charity delivering advice services throughout Allerdale; with offices in Workington.
Service aims are:
To deliver the advice people need for the problems they face
To improve the policies and practices that affect people’s lives.
Everyone will be able to access free advice to find a way forward.
To provide free, confidential advice to help people overcome their problems and campaign on big issues when their voices need to be heard.

When the first lock down was announced in March 2020 due to Covid 19, CA Allerdale had to very quickly adapt and put procedures and equipment in place to enable staff and volunteers to work from home. This meant they needed secure IT equipment to continue to support their clients.
As a charitable organisation and having to continually apply for and secure  funding to deliver advice services, costs   for additional IT equipment would be very difficult to find, leaving the people they support in a very vulnerable position.

At this point they approached Cumbria Exchange and posted a request on the website. This was soon fulfilled and a match established with the Box Encapsulation Project for Sellafield Ltd resulting in the funding for 3 refurbished laptops.

This has enabled CAB Allerdale to continue to deliver their advice services via telephone, email and webchat throughout the pandemic.

Martin Telford, Chief Officer

“Due to the quick response of Cumbria Exchange and the generosity of the business involved (BEPDT) we were able to purchase 3 additional laptops within 2 weeks of the first lockdown being announced”

BEPDT Project – The team delivering the Box Encapsulation project for Sellafield Ltd.– offered funding to be able to purchase 3 refurbished laptops.

Thank you!
