Ford Park benefits from professional finish

Ford Park has acres of open space and is a hub of activity for children of all ages. From having fun on the natural playground, surrounded by grassy mounds, to discovering the trails and exploring the kitchen garden, there is lots to see and learn in this inspirational community owned park.

In addition to the fabulous outdoor space, the park, run by the charity Ford Park Community Group, also has a popular café and well-used function room, which have recently undergone refurbishment.

Volunteers completed much of the painting themselves but required assistance with painting the stairwells as this presented a significant working at height risk that the charity is not properly equipped or qualified to under-take with its volunteers.

Following a request for support on Cumbria Exchange, Wood and Interserve, helped in kind by providing two painting operatives for a week to paint the stairwell, toilets and landing areas.

Luke Richardson, Social Impact Manager for Wood added “We are really proud to say our business is committed to having a social impact in the local area. We endeavour to help organisations that benefit local people and have a positive impact in the region; Ford Park is a fantastic example”.

“The timely and professional help from the team has made a significant improvement to Ford Park, a community green space in the heart of Ulverston. We did not have the appropriate skills in our volunteer team to undertake this work safely and we are very grateful to the team for their help in assisting us with the refurbishment, the work has been completed to a very high standard” said Suzanne Pender, Chair of Ford Park Trustees.

“The work carried out by the professional painters looks fantastic and as a charity, we are really grateful to the team for the support – they were a pleasure to work with” said Jill Salmon, Chief Executive of Ford Park.
